Have you ever wanted to create amazing 3-D prosthetics for your Halloween or film project, but been intimidated by the process? Fear not! In this class, you will learn to make amazing prosthetics that apply just like a temporary tattoo! These pieces are waterproof and stay on  until you take them off.

Visit my shop to see examples of these prosthetics and their applications.

Traditional silicone, latex or foam latex prosthetics require training and skill to create and apply properly. The pieces we will make in this class are made from prosthetic adhesive and require no special tools. This class will provide you with the knowledge needed to make an army of zombies or accident victims or whatever you can imagine! You will go home with one silicone mold and materials to make a couple of prosthetics at home. Additional material and kits will be available for purchase.

This class will involve some messy stuff (clay, silicone, hot glue, etc.), so wear something you don't mind ruining. Also, we will be working with fumed silica on day one. This material is safe to ingest, but not safe to breathe. Please wear a mask when working with this material (we will be going outside to mix it). Non-latex gloves will be provided.

 Day 1 will include:

1. Sculpting your piece

     a. tools and supplies

     b. general anatomy and how to make it look real

     c. building the containment wall

2. Making the silicone mold

     a. building the container

     b. mixing the silicone

     c. demolding

     d. cleaning the mold

3. Creating the adhesive mixture

     a. materials and their proper handling

     b. coloring options

4.  Filling the mold

     a. how to fill properly

     b. how to fix your acetate

5. Explanation of the freezing/thawing process

Once the molds have been filled, the pieces will need to go through a three-hour cycle of freezing and thawing to plasticize the material (hence the need for this to be a two-part class). I will take care of this part and bring the pieces to class the next day to continue the process.

Day 2 will include:

1. Demolding

     a. importance of speed

     b. tips for removal

2. Fixing any issues

     a. blending edges

     b. filling bubbles

3. Finishing the piece

     a. drying

     b. powdering

     c. storage

     d. pre-painting

4. Application

     a. adhering the waterslide paper

     b. skin preparation

     c. transfer

     d. blending

     e. painting

     f. removal

5. Proper care, storage and maintenance of your mold and prosthetics
